Air Search Observer Course
- ONLINE & PRACTICAL -
SAR Training Australia currently provides air observer training to international government SAR authorities and Australian Federal and State Government entities. This training has been tailored to the organisation’s requirements for their trainees, this is based on the roles the observers will be performing and level of knowledge and detail required to achieve those functions.
Our experienced and skilled trainers can liaise with clients to understand their required outcomes and offer an existing course or tailer an existing course to suit your organisational needs.
This has been created to enable geographically dispersed teams to undergo initial training prior to the requirement for airborne training. Some of this courseware will also then be recovered on the live flight training days to ensure that the information is understood and can be applied in a live environment. This also gives students the opportunity to ask any questions on the course material.
This component can be completed at the students pace prior to the commencement of the live airborne observer training component.
Base level Air Search Observer Training may consist of:
- Introduction to Air Search Observer Role and Functions
- How to prepare for Air Search Operations
- Effectively apply air search observer techniques
- Responding to aircraft emergencies
- Survival at Sea
- Conduct post search operations
This will comprise flying in aircraft and learning and applying the practical skillset, instructors will be on the aircraft ensuring correct techniques are applied and reinforcing the theoretical component. This will include ground/water personnel with targets to ensure realistic scenarios for the observers to train on, this ensures trainee satisfaction and appreciation for the difficulties experienced during sustained airborne search operations.
For practical training timelines and requirements this varies based on group size, weather in the training area, availability of aircraft, so its best to contact SAR Training Australia. SAR Training Australia staff can then provide your organisation with detailed advice based on your organisational objectives and requirements.
