Beacon homing is a crucial skillset that enables precise and dependable techniques to determine the location of a distress signal. EMS and SAR crews that have a homing capability can deliver an enhanced level of safety and efficiency in SAR missions. This capability is particularly useful in challenging terrain and in maritime environments where targets are adrift.
The beacon homing course combines traditional navigational techniques and modern technology to enable students to locate the precise position of a deployed distress alerting device in a range of environments. This is a ground-based course however the practical components are easily applied to airborne environments.
